Building on our partnership with the British Embassy Addis Ababa
The Africa Resilience Investment Accelerator (ARIA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the British Embassy Addis Ababa.
This agreement recognises the strong working partnership we have built through Manufacturing Africa, which is funded by the UK Government, and will enable us to go further in mobilising capital for businesses in Ethiopia.
We have already been working closely with our partners at the British Embassy providing combined technical assistance to businesses in the country. This MoU enables us to do more, as it establishes a framework for collaboration to:
Accelerate investments into Ethiopia, including those led by development finance institutions
Enhance coordination to strengthen the country’s investment climate
Serve as a pioneering model of donor-DFI collaboration for mobilising scalable, effective investment
The MoU was signed on behalf of ARIA by our three funding DFIs: British International Investment (BII) – represented by Vivianne Infante, FMO, the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank – represented by the Dutch Ambassador to Ethiopia, Christine Pirenne, and Proparco represented by Teddy Bukhala, with Paul Walters, Director of Development at the British Embassy Addis Ababa, signing on behalf of the British Embassy.
We are excited to continue this journey with our partners, deliver on our shared goals and contribute to Ethiopia’s investment-led growth.
The signing took place during an agribusiness-focused country mission in Ethiopia, attended by investment teams from BII, BIO - the Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries, FMO, Proparco and the Dutch Fund for Climate and Development.
